For River Appreciation Day the kids and I went to an event at St. Mary's City. The highlight for all of us was a sail boat ride. There wasn't much wind, so we didn't go far, but it was a beautiful sunny day, just perfect for relaxing.

Air & Space Museum
Ever since we went to the Air and Space Museum Isabel has been asking to go to the "other" Air & Space Museum. So one Tuesday we packed a picnic and the kids and I headed to DC for a morning at the Smithsonian museums. We started at the Air & Space, had lunch and then took a quick trip to the Natural History Museum for quick look at the Mammals and Dinosaurs. We did not get great pictures, but we did have a great time at both museums, and Oliver seems to be showing a great interest in space ships since we've been back.

National Alpaca Weekend
I know everyone was excited to celebrate National Alpaca Weekend this year. We were! We headed over to one of the local
alpaca farms (yes there are two in the area), and took a hay ride around
the farm. Not only did we get to see all of the alpaca, but also a
pig, a Watusi, dogs, and probably some other things I don't remember. After the hay ride we walked over to the
pumpkin patch where the kids spent a long time picking out the perfect
gourd to bring home. Then they got to bring home a goody bag filled with coloring books and finger puppets knitted out of alpaca wool.

Oliver Turns Two!
I know this post is like six weeks late, but oh well, better late than never.
Oliver got to celebrate his second birthday while we were at Hilton Head. We decorated the condo with balloons and streamers, made cupcakes, and had a great time with the family.
Oliver is getting so big. It is hard to believe he is two! He is a very independent boy, he wants to try to do EVERYTHING by himself and gets mad if you try to help or join in (heaven help anyone who might want to sing along with a song). His vocabulary is growing every day and he is starting to make sentences. Although I have to have him repeat himself quite often, it is nice to be able to have regular communication with him. Oliver still refers to himself as "Boy", although the other day someone asked his name and he actually said Oliver. All in all he's a pretty mellow boy who goes along with almost anything his sister suggests and is good at playing with himself. Mommy is so proud of her two year old boy!
