Sailing

For River Appreciation Day the kids and I went to an event at St. Mary's City.  The highlight for all of us was a sail boat ride.  There wasn't much wind, so we didn't go far, but it was a beautiful sunny day, just perfect for relaxing.

Air & Space Museum

Ever since we went to the Air and Space Museum Isabel has been asking to go to the "other" Air & Space Museum. So one Tuesday we packed a picnic and the kids and I headed to DC for a morning at the Smithsonian museums.  We started at the Air & Space, had lunch and then took a quick trip to the Natural History Museum for quick look at the Mammals and Dinosaurs.  We did not get great pictures, but we did have a great time at both museums, and Oliver seems to be showing a great interest in space ships since we've been back.

National Alpaca Weekend

I know everyone was excited to celebrate National Alpaca Weekend this year.  We were!  We headed over to one of the local alpaca farms (yes there are two in the area), and took a hay ride around the farm.  Not only did we get to see all of the alpaca, but also a pig, a Watusi, dogs, and probably some other things I don't remember.  After the hay ride we walked over to the pumpkin patch where the kids spent a long time picking out the perfect gourd to bring home.  Then they got to bring home a goody bag filled with coloring books and finger puppets knitted out of alpaca wool.

Oliver Turns Two!

I know this post is like six weeks late, but oh well, better late than never.

Oliver got to celebrate his second birthday while we were at Hilton Head.  We decorated the condo with balloons and streamers, made cupcakes, and had a great time with the family.

Oliver is getting so big.  It is hard to believe he is two!  He is a very independent boy, he wants to try to do EVERYTHING by himself and gets mad if you try to help or join in (heaven help anyone who might want to sing along with a song).  His vocabulary is growing every day and he is starting to make sentences.   Although I have to have him repeat himself quite often, it is nice to be able to have regular communication with him.  Oliver still refers to himself as "Boy", although the other day someone asked his name and he actually said Oliver. All in all he's a pretty mellow boy who goes along with almost anything his sister suggests and is good at playing with himself.  Mommy is so proud of her two year old boy!

Vacation at Hilton Head

Yeah, we finally got our internet back!  The computer did an automatic update and then would no longer talk to our router, the genius fix to this issue was to connect to the internet.  Robert finally sat down and deleted the offending programs and got me back on line.  So now for our pictures...

We went on vacation to Hilton Head in September with my parents, and Mike, Amy, Elizabeth and Walt.  It was Isabel's second time there, although she didn't remember it it all, and Oliver's first.  They both had a wonderful time.  Oliver was in love with all the sand.  I think he would have spent all day, every day, just digging holes.  Isabel wanted nothing more than to be in the water, floating on the waves.  After a week at the beach and pool both kids were doing a great job swimming on their own (with their floaties).

First look at the beach.

 Elizabeth being a cutie!
We got to meet up with Adair and her two kids for Sunday brunch.  The Harbor Town playground is the best!

Water, water everywhere, and sand all down my swimsuit.

We celebrated Oliver's second birthday while we were there.
Isabel has become little miss independent in the pool this summer.
 Grandaddy reading to Walt.
We went on an alligator hunt with Mike and Elizabeth and found several alligators.  One swam right under us!

There were a couple of cooler mornings that were great for building sand castles.

 Picnic time.

Mommy, where did my toes go?
 All of the gang.

Thanks to Mike for taking some family photos.
