Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum

Robert had an off Friday recently so we decided to visit the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum.  If you haven't been, I totally recommend it, it was awesome!!!  There are so many historic planes, and flying machines.  It was fun to show the kids the space shuttle, as well as Daddy's plane (X-35 A/B), as well as the original Lightning which was also make by Lockheed-Martin.

Isabel got to attend Vacation Bible School at our church this year.  It was the first time I've dropped her off and left her with strangers for an extended period of time and I'll be honest, I was freaking out a little bit, but she had a wonderful time and can't wait to start school in a few weeks.  The theme was The Mass, so she's been excited to go to church and tell me all about what is happening.  They had a concert on the last day for the parents and the 4-5 year old classes sang four songs.

Forth of July

I took Isabel to see the fireworks put on by our Volunteer Fire Department again this year.  We had a great time hanging out in the trunk of the car, and were excited when our friends parked right next to us.  Then for the actual Forth we bought a small package of fountains and Oliver got to watch his first fireworks show before he went to bed.  Both of the kids (and adults) love fireworks!

Nap Time Art

Oliver is a good sleeper, he usually takes a two to three hour nap.  If it is any shorter it's usually due to a lot of construction noise outside of his window.  But that means that Isabel and I need quieter activities to fill our afternoons.  She usually chooses to go to the basement and sit at her desk and do art.  Sometimes that means coloring, painting, or doing bubble art.  A lot of times it means tearing up paper into a million tiny pieces.  ;)

Carter Family Vacation

This year the Carter family vacation was held in June at Douthat State Park in Eastern Virginia.  Unfortunately Robert wasn't able to join us due to work commitments, but the kids and I had a great time visiting with the family, hiking, swimming, and roasting marshmallows.

 

Strawberry Jello Cake

I made my favorite cake of all time for Robert's birthday, Strawberry Jello Cake. 

Elms Beach

We found a new beach this year.  It has a good stretch of sand, lots  of warm water, and plenty of shells to look at.

Someone took this picture of Robert and Oliver at a Memorial Day party we went to.  We had fun eating, playing with crayfish, and most importantly there was fire to check out.
