Playing in the Rain

Isabel really enjoys the rain. We've had some nice afternoon showers this week that have brought hours of enjoyment. She even convinced daddy to dance in the rain with her yesterday.

Play time

Isabel has gotten much better at playing by herself lately. She doesn't need as much prompting, and comes up with some very creative things to do. The other day I was making dinner and she was in her room talking away to herself, so I let her be. When I finally went in there she told me she had dressed her penguin up and they were playing at the beach.

Baking

Isabel helped me make some bagels the other day. It's a good thing she refused to wear clothes that day.

Meal time

Sometimes I don't know why I bother to make real meals. This evening Isabel kept asking for "oats out of the pantry". I didn't know what she was talking about, so I asked her to show me. She pulled the oatmeal out of the pantry, plopped down, and started eating it straight out of the container. Soon after Daddy came in and joined her. They both sat there for fifteen minutes, filling their bellies, happy as a lark.

A few minutes outside

Here's a glimpse of fifteen minutes spent outside with Isabel.

Counting how many bricks we have.

Laying in the sun like a lion.

Blowing dandelion fluff.

Checking for bugs in the mulch.

Cleaning the pollen from the magnolia flowers.

Take my picture Mommy

Isabel asks me to take pictures of all the random things she does in a day. In this case she and Ella had finished their snacks and were knocking themselves on the head with their bowls, and had to have their picture taken.

It is officially almost summer

The temperatures are above ninety and we have gotten out Isabel's pool. It is officially almost summer in Texas (real summer starts when temperatures are above 100°).

Weekend with Daddy

This weekend I went back to Kentucky for my sister's wedding shower, leaving Isabel and Robert at home. Isabel had a great time and keeps telling me things that Daddy did with her. One highlight was their trip to a local farm to pick strawberries. They picked four very yummy pounds, and we can't wait to finish eating them so that we can go back.
