Dusting

Isabel loves to dust so much that she has her very own Swiffer. She mostly concentrates on dusting herself, her toys, and the walls.

Snack Time Activities

I was making Isabel a snack and I turned around and this is what Isabel was doing...

...she's been doing it every time I put her in her high chair, because it is hilarious. Sigh.

Farewell Katie

Katie is heading home, and we're going to miss her. It was good to see you Katie.

Choo-choo

My sister Katie is visiting for a week, so Isabel and I took her to the miniature train. Isabel spent the entire ride saying choo-choo.

Cozy in July

Isabel and Derby got all snuggled up and "cwozy" today.

Potty Time

Isabel is very interested in the potty and everything associated with it, so I went out and got her her very own. About once a day she'll sit on it and pretend she is going poop, makes me wipe her (with her diaper on), and washes her hands. So cute!

Reading

Here's a scenario that happens about fifty times a day at our house:

(1) Isabel walks to a couch or chair and demands up.
(2) If she can't reach it, Isabel calls out for the blanket that is kept on the couch.
(3) Isabel pulls and pushes and gets that blanket all snuggled up around her...even though it is 108° outside.
(4) Isabel wants me to find her Scrapy, which is the little piece of fabric she carries around with her, and which has gotten tangled in the blanket.
(5) Isabel calls for "book". If I get the wrong one she keeps calling "book" until I get the right one; we went through twelve books this way once this afternoon. I've tried getting her to pick out her book before we get on the couch, but apparently she doesn't work like that.
(6) Sometimes she reads the book herself, many times she demands I "read"...seven or eight or nine times...

Bike Rides

Isabel and I have been taking morning bike rides on a fairly regular basis since I got my bike for my birthday. The other day Ella came over and had to check out the action, so the three of us took a ride together.

Silly Days

We had our Pack 'n Play out in the yard while we cut hair. Isabel thought it was the greatest thing ever and didn't want to get out. Eventually we convinced her that we should at least bring it indoors, where she kept pressing her face up to the side making funny faces. I know it is not the best picture, but it was too funny for me to pass up.

New Shirt

Isabel spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out how she could put this bag on like a shirt with the end result being her getting tangled up in the handles.

Good Friends

My friend Ella and I love to play with each others toys. We can make a splendid mess together!

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July everyone! We celebrated by watching our neighborhood parade and cheering everyone on. We saw lots of bikes and scooters, a few police cars, and even a fire truck. Isabel thought it was so much fun.

Daddy quit taking my picture, I'm trying to enjoy my snack.

Resting

Once Isabel is up and walking around, that's how she wants to stay. No sitting down to rest like a normal person, she just grabs her scrapy and rests her head on the nearest available surface, like a chair or window sill or mommy's lap. It's really cute.

Such a Big Girl

I can't believe Isabel is almost seventeen months old. How time flies! She's getting bigger and learning more every day. She is walking all over the place now and getting into everything. Today she even walked halfway around our block! Her favorite words right now are "more" and "all done" and her favorite thing to do is to try to get into everything. We've finally had to baby proof our house.

I found Isabel in her room today trying to figure out how to get into her bed. She's a big fan of resting and really likes her blanket.
